Kristine and Sean were married last month at Lake Johnson in Raleigh, NC on a beautiful spring day. Someone was looking down on us because the weather turned out beautiful, maybe slightly chilly, but most importantly, SUNNY!
Since Kristine's parent's are next door neighbors with my brother, the wedding day started out perfect because all I had to do was drive up to my brother's and walk a couple steps to the neighbors house. I walk into the neighbor's house and was immediately surrounded by excited family and friends all waiting anxiously to see the final touches of Kristine's hair and makeup! I made it in time to capture photos of Kristine's mom's expression after her first glimpse of her daughter's hair. I always remember very quickly at these moments that I am the luckiest person in the world to be able to do what I love. BTW... don't you just love Kristine's dress! All of those gorgeous details!
The ceremony took place at Lake Johnson and I must say it is a beautiful ceremony site! The Bride and Groom get to exchange their vows whilst looking out over the water. I should also point out that Kristine's mother was brilliant with the ceremony flowers and decorations. She hand made all of the bouquets and so much more... beautiful work!
After the ceremony, we headed over to Homestead Suites in Cary, NC. What a great place for a reception! They have a beautiful covered bridge at one of the entrances... so much fun for photos!
The reception was a blast... absolutely hilarious! I had been searching the blog sphere for fun reception photo ideas and came across ideas of "photo booths". The photo booth can be done many ways, but it is basically exactly what you think of, like a photobooth you would think of in a mall. I decided to test out this idea on this reception and add a twist. I bought all kinds of early century women's hats, Mexican hats, leather hats, feathery boas, rabbit ears, etc. to make a "dress up" like photo booth. Kristine's sister kicked off the photo booth with full cooperation and she had a blast trying on different hats and posing. We then had a few other guests start to take to the photo booth idea and got a few more fun pics. Just a few minutes later I was back in the reception room taking some pics of the bride and groom and I heard some commotion behind me. I turn around and a couple of the tables are all donning the hats and feathery boas I had brought for the photo booth. It was downhill or uphill from there... never did I imagine the "props" working it's way into the reception, but I am so glad they did because the photos of this reception were fun and hilarious! You think dress up is just for kids... think again! ;-)
Thank you Kristine and Sean for such a wonderful opportunity to capture your very special day! We wish you the very best!
